Join Vancouver Island University Master of Planning Program students and Planning Institute of BC Vancouver Island - North Chapter to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Planning profession in BC by creatively transforming public parking stalls in Downtown Nanaimo into PARK-like uses. Described as a "gateway drug for urban transformation", PARKing days have gained in popularity around the world to inspire and engage people in using public parking spaces in unique, fun and human-centric ways. The Planning Institute of BC is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year.
PARKing Day Nanaimo will feature engaging displays on the planning profession, a speaker series, plenty of fun and comfortable ways to use the transformed PARKing stalls, and free Cupcakes! Please stop by and celebrate what makes our communities great.
Short, inspiring presentations will be given by:
Pam Shaw, VIU Masters of Planning School Director
Chris Barfoot, City of Nanaimo Culture and Heritage Coordinator
Aaron Dixon, 2018 Annual Student Fellowship Award Recipient
The event is followed by a PIBC Chapter Social.
