The Royal BC Museum in Victoria is hosting a presentation with Sean Markey RPP, MCIP (Dean of the Faculty of Environment, Professor and Certified Planner, SFU REM), Dana Lepofsky (Professor of Archaeology) and Kim Recalma-Clutesi, Matriarch, Qualicum Nation and LL.D (SFU). They will be speaking about their Xwe'etay/Lasqueti research project currently on display in the Royal BC Museum.
This project explores Indigenous heritage, archaeology, community relationships, and place-based stewardship on Xwe'etay (Lasqueti Island), contributing new perspectives on heritage conservation and reconciliation. They will discuss how- from the position of a First Nations Elder, a community-based planner and an archaeologist - they addressed current Indigenous-settler relations head on in the context of the Xwe’etay/Lasqueti Archaeology project.
