2025: Advancing Child Care in B.C.

Student: Kristina Shubert Summary: This project examined changes in child care planning in B.C. since 2020 and the resulting research provided an analysis of the current child care landscape, identified best practices and innovations, and provided local governments with a resource for advancing child care in the province.

2024: Extraction to Reciprocity - Reflection on Food Security

Student: Isabelle Espanol Summary: This project investigated the complexities in addressing food securities and involved researching municipal food policies, facilitating stakeholder meetings, and assisting in drafting recommendations for food security initiatives.

2023: Rural Challenges in Agricultural Policies in Northern B.C.

Student: Matt Henderson Summary: This project focused on assessing the Agriculture Land Reserve (ALR) policies in the under-represented agriculture community in Northern British Columbia. The research was grounded in community-based participatory research (CBPR) and the findings were used to build a foundation for how to enact meaningful changes to rural agricultural policies in the Cariboo Region.

2023: Evaluating Equity and Justice in Vancouver’s Sea2City Design Challenge

Student: Tira Okamoto Summary: This project focused on evaluating equity and justice within urban coastal adaptation planning processes and built upon existing research to develop and apply an evaluative equity framework to the City of Vancouver’s Sea2City Design Challenge as a case study.
