Much needed zoning reforms expected this Fall are set to enable more housing density in single detached neighbourhoods across the Province. For many, the reforms offer a unique opportunity to enact transformative changes to parking mandates to create more livable cities, saying less space for parking can create more room for housing. In the latest session of the Gentle Density Network webinar series, we have assembled a group of parking and transportation reform champions to help the Gentle Density Network explore what parking reform and gentle density might look like in their communities. During this 90-minute session, attendees will:
- Learn about parking reform initiatives from the perspectives of community planners, developers, and affordable housing champions
- Discuss challenges in their communities
- Generate ideas about how parking reforms and gentle density can work together to contribute to housing abundance
In the spirit of transformative change, we’re using a different format for this GDN session! We’ll offer four 30-minute topic-focused breakout sessions about different aspects of parking reform. Presenters will have less than 10 minutes to introduce their topic and then open the floor for questions and discussion. Then we’ll switch it up and do it again.
