- Daytime workshop at the Florence Filberg Centre: Presentations from planners, Island Health staff and regional Health Network coordinators exploring the diverse public health implications of planning work. Topics include exploring regional population data sources, the link between climate change and public health, First Nations perspectives on healthy communities, lessons from the Collective Impact model in practice, and more. For part of the day, participants will be led through an exercise in working with Health Impact Assessment methodologies Registration is required for this paid daytime workshop. This daytime workshop is eligible for 6 CPL Units.
- PIBC Social to follow (4:30 pm - 6:30 pm) at: Cornerstone Taphouse (208 5th St., Courtenay).
- FREE evening public event (following daytime workshop above) at the Florence Filberg Centre, Downtown Courtenay: Short presentations, films and panel discussion format to seed an informed public discussion in a town hall setting on the public health implications of planning. Topics will include those covered in the daytime workshop as well as examples of health authorities and planning departments working together to encourage public engagement and inform public policy.
