Over 110 communities in BC have Community Energy Plans, and yet many communities have difficulty moving those plans into action. Issues of capacity and competing priorities can prove challenging, particularly for small and mid-sized communities. Fortunately there are ways communities can overcome these challenges, and support is available for BC communities to help them proceed.
The Community Energy Association, QUEST and Sustainable Prosperity, are pleased to invite you to participate in a free event, a workshop on Community Energy Planning: Getting to Implementation in small and mid-sized communities in British Columbia, on Friday June 19, 2015 from 8:00am until 12:00pm in Prince George, British Columbia. The workshop is a free shoulder event to the LGMA AGM, but no ticket to the LGMA AGM is necessary.
Benefits to communities to attend include:
- Connection to free support to help with Community Energy Plan implementation
- Understanding how to overcome other challenges, e.g. competing priorities
- Connection to a national peer group of community energy planning practitioners focused on fostering collaboration and sharing expertise about energy planning
This workshop is extremely timely given the initiation of the Province’s Climate Action Plan 2.0 process, and we will seek to integrate the feedback from this workshop into that process.
This short workshop is primarily aimed at small and mid-sized communities as well as other sectors involved in community energy planning implementation. The workshop will include breakfast, and be followed by an optional networking lunch.
Space for this workshop is limited. To register or for more information, please email probinson@communityenergy.bc.ca or enter this address into your web browser: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/community-energy-planning-getting-to-implementation-in-british-columbia-tickets-16414406933.
If you are unable to attend, we welcome you to share the invitation.
This workshop is part of the Community Energy Planning: Getting to Implementation in Canada initiative which is focused on helping communities implement their community energy plans. More information about the project can be found at www.gettingtoimplementation.ca.
We hope you can join us.
