Join the PIBC South Coast Chapter on Tuesday, July 7 for a guided tour exploring the evolution of the City of Vancouver’s Broadway Plan.
The Broadway Plan envisions a highly walkable, vibrant, and inclusive urban corridor that will accommodate an estimated 64,000 additional residents and 45,000 jobs around the new Broadway Subway. This tour will examine how the Plan is reshaping the community, including discussions on:
- The existing condition and future evolution of the residential areas (older rental apartments, existing low-density areas and heritage sites)
- The transformation of Broadway into a high-density “Great Street” corridor
- The Mount Pleasant Industrial area and opportunities for employment intensification and the innovation economy
- The evolving nature of the Broadway Plan since its inception and implementation challenges as it relates to the current economic condition and development viability
Tour guides include:
- John Grottenberg, RPP, MCIP — Project Lead, Broadway Plan, City of Vancouver
- Michael Mortensen, RPP, MCIP — Founder & Director, Liveable City Planning
The tour will conclude with networking and canapés at Steamworks Mount Pleasant. Drinks will be available for self-purchase. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
