Headquartered in Pemberton, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) delivers a wide range of regional, sub-regional and local services to its residents. The SLRD is a BC Regional District consisting of four member municipalities (Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Lillooet) and four electoral areas. Services include land use planning, solid waste management, building inspection, fire protection, emergency preparedness, 911 services, recreation, water and sewer utilities, regional transit, trails and open spaces as well as financial support for various community services. Located in one of British Columbia’s most scenic regions, the SLRD offers a supportive, hybrid work environment and an exceptional place to live and work.
The SLRD is seeking a knowledgeable and accomplished Senior Planner for an approximate 12-month term. The Senior Planner is responsible for project oversight, research, complex report writing, review of technical information, review of land use plans and other advanced professional Planning duties. Reporting to the General Manager of Planning & Development Services, the Senior Planner acts as an advisor and consultant on general Planning policies, objectives and requirements as well as land use proposals and comprehensive development applications; and prepares professional reports, plans and bylaws of a complex nature related to official community plan bylaws, zoning bylaws, regional growth strategy bylaws and planning strategies and also carries out special policy-related projects.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of recent progressively senior Planning experience, along with a post-graduate degree (Master’s) in Planning. For detailed information, please refer to the full job description at www.slrd.bc.ca/employment.
This full-time, temporary position is anticipated to start as soon as possible. The salary range is $109,965 - $123,768 annually. A percentage in lieu of benefits, a 9-day fortnight, hybrid remote work arrangements, and professional learning and development opportunities are also available with this position.
