Would you like to be part of a vibrant local government organization that deals with a wide diversity of infill residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and heritage applications?  Are you a service-oriented individual who likes to engage with development applicants and the public and thrives in a fast-paced environment?  If so, the City of Delta invites you to apply for a full-time Planner 2 position.

We are seeking an individual with considerable professional development planning experience. This role primarily involves processing development applications of a moderate to complex nature, and it may also include responsibilities for developing plans, policies, and regulatory bylaw updates.

In addition to a degree in an appropriate discipline and, preferably, a postgraduate degree in Planning, you have an in-depth understanding of community planning principles, practices, techniques and methods, municipal planning trends, and public engagement.  You have direct experience with land development applications and processes and are conversant with applicable regulations, policies, by-laws and legislation. You have expertise working in a local government setting or a field directly related to urban land use and development.  A critical thinker, organized project manager, and strong communicator with plenty of initiative, you are able to represent the Department, act as a resource, prepare relevant reports and recommendations, and explain complex technical concepts and plans to non-technical individuals.

Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Planners and a valid BC class 5 driver’s licence are required. Urban design, architecture or landscape architecture experience is an asset, but not a requirement, for this position.

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $46.75 – $55.35 per hour (commensurate with experience) and an excellent benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan as well as an earned-days-off system. Interested applicants are requested to apply online at www.delta.ca/employment, to competition number 19-170 EX by October 23, 2019.

We thank all applicants for their interest; only those under consideration will be contacted.

Copies of relevant professional certificates, degrees, or tickets must be submitted with your application.

Preferred candidates will be required to submit a Police Information Check.
