Please join your fellow PIBC professionals along with design and development professionals for an appetizer reception with special address and Q&A from Storm Cunningham, author and advisor on the restoration economy. A panel discussion with local professionals will follow.

Our Speakers:

Kyle Yakimovich, BCSLA - Landscape Architect.  Whether it's designing a park, or creating inviting residential space, Kyle is passionate about educating and connecting people with the outdoor environment. Having worked in the field of landscape architecture for over 15 years, Kyle is committed to making the outdoors accessible, while having minimal environmental impact. Kyle has worked as a landscape architect in Ontario and BC, working in both urban and rural communities. He understands and appreciates the balance between the desire for aethetics and maintaining natural elements.  Kyle is the owner of Outside Design and lives in the Cowichan Valley with his family.

Kate Miller, M.Sc., MCIP, RPP, LEED AP - Environmental Planner. Kate works with a wide range of communities and organizations to seek solutions to environmental and resource issues in a community context.  Kate works at the Cowichan Valley Regional District as the Manager of the Environmental Services Division, within the Engineering Department. Kate is charged with a range of master planning programs including the Drinking Water and Watershed Protection Program, Liquid Waste Planning, Environmental Planning, Flood analysis and management within the Cowichan system, and, the region’s Climate Adaptation Strategy.

Doug Makaroff, MCIP, RPP - Urban Planner/Developer. Doug has 25 years experience in Urban Planning and through that time he has learned the fundamentals of real estate, planning for mixed use communities and working with conservation NGO's for the preservation of forest lands and sustainable development.  Doug has been a planner for sustainable developments in Mexico, the USA, and Canada. Currently Doug is a business owner at Scala Development Consultants Ltd.
