The Peace River Regional District includes four electoral areas and seven member municipalities, with a total population of approximately 60,000, covering a vast 120,000 square kilometer area.
Full Time, Temporary Up To 12-Month Term Position
Position Overview
Reporting to the General Manager of Development Services or designate, the Planner 1 will assist in a number of ongoing, long-range planning projects; such as, official community plans, zoning bylaws and comprehensive development plans. They will also assist in the processing of current planning files; such as, subdivision referrals and Agricultural Land Reserve applications. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a northern resource region and gain experience working with multiple jurisdictions and authorities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a current student or recent graduate of a Planning program in Canada, and will have a solid understanding of Local Government planning in British Columbia. Proven skills in research and data analysis, experience in a fast paced environment, and strong written communication skills are required.
Additional Information
This position is available for a term at either the Dawson Creek or Fort St. John PRRD offices. Candidates must indicate their availability upon application.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with one hour for lunch.
The after probation wage rate for this position is $28.02/hr, plus 14% in lieu of benefits. The applicant will be asked to provide a Class 5, BC Driver’s License abstract.
