Join us for one of a small number of fun tours arranged by Erick Villagomez in association with the PIBC South Coast Chapter over the next few months, focusing on the local urban landscape!
Kicking off the festivities is a walking tour of Cedar Cove organized and delivered by renowned local historian John Atkin on August 4th at 6:00 pm. John will be sharing his incredible knowledge of the layers of history of one of his favourite quirky places in the city. Focusing on the areas between Woodland and Lakewood, north of Hastings, Franklin, Triumph and Pandora Streets, attendees will hear about the influence of a variety of ethnicities that have inhabited the area and the industry that eventually developed.
It's sure to be a great time! The tour will roughly last 1.5-2.0 hours, ending at a local brewery to socialize and chat about the experience. This tour will run rain or shine so being ready for wet weather is a must, as is good walking footwear.
Meeting location is the southeast corner of Franklin and Woodland, in front of 1600 Franklin St.
John has graciously agreed to offer attendees on this tour a discounted rate of $10 per attendee (cash payment made directly to John on site). Attendees are responsible for their own tour payment. There will be a limit of 25 attendees (maximum) for this tour (first come first serve), so sign up fast. Hope to see you there!
