We are pleased to announce that the Niagara Region has several new career opportunities in our Planning & Development Department.  

The Niagara Region serves a diverse urban and rural population of more than 430,000. Working collaboratively with 12 local area municipalities and numerous community partners, the Region delivers a range of high quality programs and services to support and advance the well-being of individuals, families and communities within its boundaries.

We have the following positions available:

1. Manager Environmental Planning (Posting# 25654) Reporting to the Director Development Approvals, the Manager Environmental Planning is responsible for providing technical direction, guidance and leadership to a team responsible for planning and permit development review through the application of Niagara Region’s and Provincial land use planning policies related to the natural environment. 2. Senior Development Planner (Posting# 25651) Reporting to the Manager Development Planning, the Senior Planner is responsible for leading the pre-consultation and development application review processes with municipalities and developers; reviewing, researching, analyzing, resolving conflict and preparing coordinated comments and reports on a wide range of more complex and politically sensitive development applications, projects and proposals in both urban and rural contexts provision of advice to local municipalities and stakeholders/clients, formulation of written comments and recommendations, as well as consistent application of regional and provincial policies, plans, guidelines/standards and legislation. Provides independent expert opinion evidence and testimony at tribunals and supervision of other planners and students. Posting Closes: March 23, 2020
    
3. Senior Policy Planner (Posting# 25652) Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Planner is responsible for project management leadership, for a wide range of planning and policy issues, in with an emphasis on rural land use planning including agriculture and/or watershed planning. The job includes preparation of policy for the new Regional Official Plan, preparing reports on a wide range of more complex and politically sensitive projects, issues and proposals.  Leads and supports a variety of corporate strategic initiatives related to Council’s Strategic Priorities.  Provides independent expert opinion evidence and testimony at tribunals and supervision of other planners and students.
