 We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Planner in the Engineering Planning Department. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Planning, the successful candidate will provide planning and business/data analysis to the Planning team to support baggage and passenger processing, as well as airside, cargo and groundside capacity. This role supports the upfront business, program and project planning efforts.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Researching airside, passenger, baggage, and groundside processes and working collaboratively with operational business/program owners, external business partners and government agencies to understand business objectives for future development
  • Developing input parameters including analysis of historical data, forecasted capacity models and industry best practices to inform current and future planning efforts
  • Devising working models which can be used for planning and analysis, to identify preferred process and infrastructure improvements
  • Drafting complete and detailed reports and presentations that include specific planning recommendations which are supported by analytics 
  • Identifying, analyzing and implementing process improvement projects
  • Providing support for long-term capital plans for baggage, terminal, cargo, airside and groundside development plans, as well as for individual programs and projects through translation of the long term forecasts, design day schedules and process definitions, inputs and assumptions into facility requirements based on analytical demand and capacity assessments
  • Working with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to obtain inputs, feedback and buy-in on planning issues

 Key qualifications include:  

  • At least two years’ recent, related experience in engineering process design, planning, operational research or application of statistical technical and simulation modelling in an operational environment, supplemented by a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Systems, Design, Process or Mechanical Engineering) or Planning (Aviation, Transportation, Urban and Regional Planning, etc.); or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with EGBC and/or registered with the Planning Institute of BC
  • Excellent communication skills including oral, written (including technical writing and report writing) and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership skills including negotiation, organizational and coordination, time and risk management and people management skills
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect data to business problems, as well as knowledge of statistical method theory and application, and the ability o manage complex studies involving statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated relationship management and trust building skills
  • Exceptional business acumen and leadership presence
  • Knowledge of the use of time and motion studies and human factor science
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, project scheduling software, and simulation and modelling software
