We are looking for a strategic and forward-thinking leader to join our Parks, Recreation & Culture team. This role will support the City’s highly collaborative and skilled development review process. As a Planner 2, you will join the multidisciplinary Transit-Oriented Development Application Team (TODAT) as a representative for the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Services Department. You will work closely with other members of TODAT in supporting the team on park, recreation, and public space needs, including a comprehensive coordination of all the feedback across the park planning, park operations, community recreation, and urban forestry sections. Consistent with TODAT purpose, you will aid in implementing high quality urban design and creating great public places. You will be instrumental in facilitating development applications that will promote sustainable levels of park and recreation amenities to service current and future residents.
Writing complex reports and delivering presentations comes easily to you. You’ve worked in professional teams under tight deadlines, possess a positive can-do attitude, require minimal supervision, and are able to tackle planning challenges with competence and flair.
Your thorough knowledge of land-use planning as well as parks and recreation is ideally demonstrate by having a degree in community planning or similar discipline such as landscape architecture, plus membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and Planning Institute of B.C. Experience in urban design and park planning is considered an asset.
