Community Energy and Climate Change Consultant
About the Opportunity
Our Kamloops branch is seeking an experienced, professional and motivated consultant to join our growing Community Energy & Climate Change practice.
In this role, you will play a key role in supporting communities across Western Canada advance the development of community-owned renewable energy project opportunities, develop strategies and plans to support the advancement of more energy sustainable and resilient community infrastructure and help facilitate meaningful actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. You will also have the opportunity to support the advancement of community-led climate change adaptation initiatives to enhance community resiliency and vibrancy.
As part of the team, you will put your passion and skills to work to:
- Assess the viability of renewable energy project opportunities including: solar, wind, hydropower, and biomass
- Craft renewable energy project development plans and strategies to support the advancement of community-owned renewable energy infrastructure
- Present technical information regarding renewable projects various community forums
- Prepare community and corporate energy and emissions baselines (data collection and analysis)
- Prepare and develop community and corporate energy plans
- Support strategic plans to advance community interests on natural resource and environmental management issues
- Research and support analysis related to climate change adaptation strategies for local government and Indigenous communities
- Support and develop market opportunities in Western Canada such as BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan
- Work collaboratively with the broader and geographically dispersed community energy practice to identify and secure new opportunities
- Advance project proposals, grant funding and general business development opportunities
About You
You may have background in engineering, planning, environmental science or studies, and/or resource management with a minimum of 2 years of related industry experience in a professional setting.
