TransLink is currently seeking 2 Senior Planners to play a key part in planning and implementing our Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) program:

These positions are with the B-Line Bus Rapid Transit team, within the Transportation Planning & Policy Division, reporting to the Manager, Rapid Bus Projects.

These positions will play a senior role in planning & implementing TransLink’s B-Line program on one or more specific corridors. The B-Line program is delivering a network of fast, frequent, and reliable arterial BRT bus routes connecting major centres and corridors across the region. Funding has been approved to implement four new B-Lines in 2019, in addition to enhancements to three existing routes and planning for further B-Line expansion across the region as identified in the Mayors’ 10-Year Vision.

The role will lead the corridor specific application of the B-Line program, working with partner agency staff & consultants to plan, design and guide the implementation of bus service plans & required infrastructure, including transit priority measures, and enhanced passenger amenities. This work includes leading inter-agency working groups, and consultation with stakeholders and the public.

We are looking for a transit enthusiast with advanced transportation planning and design knowledge as well as experience with government agencies, with following qualifications:

- Advanced Transportation Planning knowledge

- Sound Leadership and Decision-making skills

- Excellent Analytical & Problem Solving abilities

- Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills

- Master’s Degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline

- Four (4) years of experience providing an advanced level of expertise and leading projects in an agency specializing in planning or transportation.

This position’s focus is on transit planning and corridor design, so experience in bus planning and/or bus priority planning and design for a public agency, consultancy or associated body would be an asset.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process.
