Bring your passion, training and experience to this exciting opportunity.  As one of the fastest growing communities in British Columbia we are looking for a highly motivated and committed social planning professional to join the City’s growing Community Planning team.

As part of the Community Planning team, you will work with a wide range of individuals, communities and organizations in helping to plan for and respond to shifts in a rapidly growing community. You will develop, coordinate and implement social planning polices, programs, events and projects, as well as assist with Council Advisory Committees with a specific focus on social planning and multiculturalism topics and issues.

Ideally you have 3 to 5 years’ progressive experience in the field, including experience within municipal government and have will have a broad range of social planning experience (i.e., housing affordability, multiculturalism, and community health promotion).  You possess a University graduation (graduate degree preferable) in Community or Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Social Work, or Community Development. Proven policy implementation experience in these fields will be considered an asset:

  • Multiculturalism policy development and implementation;
  • Housing policy and facilitating affordable housing projects;
  • Child Care policy and facilitation;
  • Homelessness and addictions issues management;
  • Working with community advisory committees;
  • Public participation and community engagement;
  • Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners/Planning Institute of BC;

 

In addition to a CUPE hourly rate of $47.69 - $56.46 (2020 CUPE rates) plus a percentage in lieu of benefits, anticipate a lively and fast-paced environment, opportunities for personal and professional growth.
