Bring your passion, training and experience to this exciting opportunity.  As one of the fastest growing communities in British Columbia we are looking for a highly motivated and committed urban planning professional to join the City’s Community Planning team. The Planner Analyst will be responsible for policy analysis and research activities in support of community planning projects and initiatives.  The Planner Analyst will:

  • Review development application referrals related to Official Community Plan amendments;
  • Assemble, research, analyze and interpret social, economic, physical and other data for community and social planning policy;
  • Prepare reports and memos summarizing analyses and providing recommendations; 
  • Assist in the preparation of, and participate in, public consultation events and committee meetings; and
  • Review and analyze public feedback data.

Our ideal candidate will possess university education in urban planning, excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and, preferably some experience in a municipal planning office. Eligibility for provisional or full membership in Canadian Institute of Planners/Planning Institute of British Columbia is a requirement. Skills and experience in the following areas will be considered an asset:

  • The principles, practices, and objectives of urban planning;
  • Policies, regulations, bylaws and legislation governing urban planning;
  • Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw policy interpretation and analysis;
  • Proficiency with multiple software programs, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, AMANDA, ArcGIS, and SketchUp; and

Anticipate a lively and fast-paced environment, opportunities for professional growth. The CUPE hourly rate of $41.98 - $49.61 (2022 rates) plus some benefits for this temporary opportunity, as well as the option of participating in the City’s earned day off program.
