A regular full-time position is available for an experienced professional housing planner to join our dynamic Community Planning team. In this important new position, you will leverage your extensive knowledge and experience in the area ofhousing to develop and implement policies, strategies and programs that will advance the District’s goals, objectives and plans. You will apply your knowledge of affordable and non-market housing to evaluate community housing needs, design aligned policy, and coordinate housing-related grant and funding opportunities. You will play a key role related to researchingand developing homelessness initiatives, and work with a variety of governmental and agency partners in the coordination and delivery of non-market housing. You will be part of a dedicated team, supporting and working closely with the Senior Planner and Manager of Community Planning.

As the Housing Planner, you may also work with consultants, participate in committees, and provide comment on development applications that have an affordable housing component. With a positive outlook, you will maintain strong relationships withinternal and external clients. Writing Council reports and designing public engagement processes will be regular parts of your job. As such, you will bring a strong understanding of planning principles, processes, and legislation. You are a creative andindependent worker who integrates new ideas, perspectives and best practices into your work. Your skills allow you to identify effective solutions while managing competing perspectives to meet deadlines. You have excellent skills in project management,problem solving, and data analysis.

You have a postgraduate degree in Planning or related discipline, complemented by progressive professional experience in long-range and policy planning, with a focus on housing, preferably gained in a municipal environment. A minimum of five years of professional planning experience is desirable. Membership or eligibility for membership with PIBC or CIP, and a BC Driver’sLicense are required.

The pay range for this unionized position is $48.64 - $57.59 per hour (2021 rates) based on a 35-hour work week.
