If so, the City of Delta invites you to apply for a full-time Planner 2 position.
The City of Delta is seeking an individual with considerable professional land use planning experience. This Planner 2 position primarily involves developing long range plans. In the near term, the successful candidate may work on projects such as Delta’s Housing Action Plan, high-priority initiatives related to the Scott Road Corridor and Ladner Village, future Official Community Plan / Area Plan updates, and initiatives to streamline the development process. This position also involves responding to public enquiries to the Community Planning & Development Department, and it may also involve processing development applications of a moderate to complex nature.
In addition to a degree in an appropriate discipline and, preferably, a postgraduate degree in Planning, you have an in- depth understanding of community planning principles, practices, techniques and methods, municipal planning trends, housing policy, land economics, and public engagement. You have direct experience with land use planning and development processes and are conversant with applicable regulations, policies, by-laws and legislation. You have expertise working in a local government setting or a field directly related to urban land use and development. A critical thinker, organized project manager, and strong communicator with plenty of initiative, you are able to represent the Department, act as a resource, prepare relevant reports and recommendations, and explain complex technical concepts and plans to non-technical individuals.
Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Planners is required. This position requires a valid BC class 5 driver’s licence.
The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $46.75 – $55.35 per hour (commensurate with experience) and an excellent benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan as well as an earned-days-off system.
