PLANNER 1 (URBAN REGENERATION AND ANALYTICS)

The Planning & Development Department is looking for a regular full time Planner 1 (Urban Regeneration and Analytics) to join their team.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Planning (Urban Regeneration and Analytics) this position requires knowledge in a variety of areas related to urban planning. This exciting position provides the opportunity to influence, create, and implement actionable policy in directing growth and working towards the City’s vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”. You will use your skills in developing and supporting long range policy, data collection and analysis, undertaking studies, participating in the implementation of the Housing Portfolio – including the City’s Housing Accelerator Fund initiatives – Community Wellbeing Strategy, Community Engagement Framework and other planning initiatives. You will liaise with various internal and external contacts, answer inquiries, and provide information to other departments and the public. In addition, you may participate in public meetings, and public engagements and provide various planning groups, committees, and Council with technical and professional expertise and guidance, as well as, prepare Council reports.  Performs related duties. 

 

You will have a University degree in Community / Regional Planning and some professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge and experience in the analytical and research techniques and methodology in municipal planning is required, along with membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of British Columbia. Strong project management, problem solving, and effective communication skills are an asset. You will be required to attend evening Council, committee and public meetings.  A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC is also required.

 

Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.

 

Salary:

$50.13 to $59.23 per hour + benefits

Pay Grade 28 (2024 Rates)

 

Hours of Work:

The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
