Position Overview
Reporting to the General Manager of Development Services or designate, the Planner 1 will assist in a number of ongoing, long-range planning projects such as, official community plans, zoning bylaws and comprehensive development plans. They will also assist in the processing of current planning files such as, subdivision referrals and Agricultural Land Reserve applications. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a northern resource region and gain experience working with multiple jurisdictions and authorities.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a current student or recent graduate of a Planning program in Canada and will have a solid understanding of Local Government planning in British Columbia. Proven skills in research and data analysis, experience in a fast-paced environment, and strong written communication skills are required.


Additional Information
This position is available for up to a 12-month term at either the Dawson Creek or Fort St. John PRRD office. Candidates must indicate their availability upon application.


The hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with one hour for lunch.


The after probation wage rate for this position is $28.02/hr, plus 14% in lieu of benefits. The applicant will be asked to provide a Class 5, BC Driver’s License abstract.
