The District of Central Saanich, located on the Saanich Peninsula of Southern Vancouver Island enjoys the reputation of being among the best locations in Canada to work, live and play. Central Saanich is bounded on both the east and west by ocean and is known for its scenic rolling countryside and bounty of farms. This community of 18,000 residents has a vibrant, small village character and includes the Tsawout and Tsartlip First Nations; and it is central to all amenities of the Greater Victoria area.

Reporting to the Director of Planning and Building Services, the Manager of Development Services is responsible for the management, planning, coordinating and directing of the Development Services Division, which includes Current Planning and Building Inspection Services. In this hands-on role, the Manager provides direction, advice and support to division staff on development and building permit application processes and communicates planning and building issues with the public and other departments and jurisdictions. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient processing of development applications and in coordination with the Director provides professional planning advice and recommendations to Council. The Manager assumes the role of Subdivision Approving Officer for the District. The Manager is also responsible for overseeing the administration and enforcement of all codes and bylaws affecting buildings and construction, plumbing, signs and licenses, with the support of the Chief Building Official. The Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating the annual work program and budget, and assisting in the development and execution of corporate and strategic initiatives and ensuring a high level of customer service.
