We're pleased to announce that Jonas Schiller, a new Visiting Scholar from Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany, will be hosting a talk about his research insights!
Work Culture
And its Effects on Mobility & Energy Consumption in a ‘15-Minute City’
Jonas will explore the international research project "Smart and Sustainable Work Culture (SSWC), which examines how evolving work practices can support sustainable urban development.
This presentation explores the international research project Smart and Sustainable Work Culture (SSWC), which examines how evolving work practices can support sustainable urban development. At the center of this investigation is the 15-minute city—a novel urban planning concept already being implemented in several Canadian and European cities. However, work remains one of the least flexible elements in achieving this vision.
The project investigates how home office and shared office models can reshape daily mobility patterns and reduce regional energy consumption. By integrating mobility behavior into energy simulations and identifying optimal locations for shared offices, the research highlights strategies to reduce car dependency and support energy-efficient urban planning. Come hear Jonas outline the systemic approach and preliminary findings on regional home office potential and energy savings. The project is carried out in collaboration with academic and municipal partners from Greece and Korea, offering a global perspective on sustainable work culture.
