Residential Rental Tenure Zoning in the Capital Region
With the intention of advancing knowledge around the new RRTZ tool- a regulation that some municipalities have advocated for several years, but now that they have it, they are not sure how to put it to use - we will gather various stakeholders in the Capital Regional for knowledge mobilization, exchange and gathering. Starting with the presentation of a range of viewpoints including preliminary findings from SCARP research on international analogues of RRTZ, a rental industry perspective, and the City of Victoria’s findings from the Victoria Housing Summit, we will follow with facilitated roundtable discussions to explore relevant questions. We hope to stimulate cross-sectoral discussion of RRTZ and to generate understanding of the tool so that it can be implemented by BC municipalities in ways that achieve its intended uses. We seek to advance understanding between local government, the rental operation and development industry, non-profit housing providers, and funding organizations.
Final delivarable will be a report prepared by the Housing Research Collaborative that presents the findings of the workshop and the implications for RRT Zoning.
