Brian Wakelin
Public Works
Despite Greater Vancouver’s wide recognition for urban design, we lack significant spaces for public gathering. In this context, Brian Wakelin, of the celebrated Vancouver-based design firm, PUBLIC (recent recipient of the Professional Prix de Rome in Architecture) has focused almost exclusively on designing temporary pavilions, small public buildings and urban infrastructure. Rather than monumental public spaces, these structures are fragments of an incomplete and evolving puzzle that make up the city. This talk will be preceded by a short performance by performing artist Sam Herle.
