The Cowichan Valley Regional District is excited to introduce the Placemaking Vancouver Island 2017 Speaker Series. Guest speaker events, featuring local and international speakers, will be taking place throughout the fall into the spring 2018. The speakers will be exploring different community building topics to inspire residents to continue enhancing and building on the Cowichan identity, and Vancouver Island more broadly, while planning for its future.

About Charles Montgomery:

Charles Montgomery is an award-winning Canadian writer and urban design expert. Primarily known for his books The Last Heathen and Happy City. Montgomery has advised and lectured planners, students, and decision-makers across Canada, the USA and England. His latest book, Happy City, looks at how lessons from psychology, neuroscience and design activism can help create better cities and improve our lives. Viewing communities as labs, he helps people find new ways to change the world around them, so that our cities and towns improve our lives.
