PIBC Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary at 2018 World Town Planning Day Gala, with Special Guest Hon. Selina Robinson, BC Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing

September 27, 2018 (Vancouver, BC) – The Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) will be continuing celebrations for its 60th anniversary during this year’s 11th annual World Town Planning Day Gala event on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. Special guests will include the Honourable Selina Robinson, BC Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

During this annual celebratory event, PIBC will also officially recognize its newest Life Member honouree, Beverly Grieve MCIP, RPP and the admission of its newest Honourary Member, Gary Paget. The designation of “Life Member” is the highest and most distinguished honour that the Institute can bestow upon a long-serving professional member of the Institute who is worthy of significant recognition. PIBC’s Honourary Membership recognizes distinguished individuals from outside the profession who have made outstanding contributions to planning, the profession, and to their communities.

The Institute will also recognize members who have recently become newly certified as Registered Professional Planners (RPPs) as well as long-serving professional members who have now held professional membership with PIBC for twenty-five years or more.

Special guests have been invited and this year’s event has been planned to not only celebrate the planning profession, but also to commemorate the Institute’s 60th anniversary. These include:

- Special remarks from the Honourable Selina Robinson, BC Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing,
- Gala keynote presentation from Larry Beasley CM, FCIP, RPP,
- Pre-Gala Reception,
- Dinner & presentation of member recognition, and
- PIBC 60th After Party

This year’s Gala – marking World Town Planning Day & celebrating PIBC’s 60th Anniversary Gala – will provide an excellent opportunity for planners, colleagues and friends of the planning profession from across BC, the Yukon, and beyond to celebrate, network and socialize.
