Call for Volunteer Expressions of Interest: PIBC 60th Anniversary Planning West Guest Co-Editors

In celebration of PIBC's 60th anniversary this year, PIBC and the 60th Anniversary Committee is looking for up to 2 Volunteer Guest Co-Editors to help work on and coordinate the commemorative issue of the Institute’s Planning West magazine in celebration of this milestone year.

About the Roles:

Working with the 60th Anniversary Committee and others the Guest Co-Editors of the PIBC 60th Anniversary commemorative issue of Planning West will lead the curation and development of content (articles, features, imagery) for this special magazine issue, highlighting and celebrating the six decades since the Institute's incorporation, and looking forward to what's ahead for the future of PIBC and the planning profession in BC and the Yukon.

The Guest Co-Editors of the commemorative issue will directly report to the Institute’s Manager of Member Programs & Services, and indirectly to PIBC's 60th Anniversary Committee. They will also receive guidance and work with the existing Planning West Editor, the Communications & Marketing Specialist, and the Institute’s graphic design team as required. PIBC will also be engaging a part-time contract project worker to assist with research & information gathering related to the PIBC 60th celebrations, and some of that work will contribute directly or indirectly to the 60th Anniversary commemorative issue of Planning West.

A preliminary timeline for this 60th Anniversary issue includes a content submission deadline of August 15, 2018, with the special issue being released in late September/early October 2018. Therefore work in these roles will start immediately and continue through until approx. mid-October 2018.

Skills and experience that would be valuable for these volunteer roles include:

  • PIBC membership;
  • Knowledge and experience with PIBC and its members over time;
  • Experience with publication writing and editing;
  • Experience with or an understanding of historical research / perspectives;
  • Good personal & professional networks within and across the planning profession in BC & the Yukon;
  • Research skills & experience would be an asset;
