Binnie is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to join our Transportation Group. As a Senior Transportation Planner, you will perform technical and professional planning work for transportation planning assignments, including technical research and analysis, public engagement, and functional and conceptual design. The projects vary in scope and complexity with focused areas in the integration of multi-modal transportation systems such as, bicycle, pedestrian and transit planning and facility design, master plans, universal accessibility planning, strategy and policy planning, and stakeholder and public engagement. 

This is a full-time position in our modern 41,000 square foot Head Office near scenic Deer Lake in Burnaby. You will work with talented and diverse team of Engineers, Planners, Project Managers, Designers and Technologists and apply your transportation planning background and experience to develop tailored solutions for our clients.

YOUR ROLE:

  • Providing strategic guidance into developing planning approach for projects and completing the scope
  • Developing and leading strategy in policy planning, stakeholder and public engagement, and communication plans
  • Developing bicycle, pedestrian and transit planning and facility design, transportation master plans, universal accessibility planning, transportation demand management (TDM) strategies and plans, application of CPTED principles, and other related planning focused areas
  • Providing mentoring, training, technical direction, and expertise to junior and intermediate team members
  • Keeping up to date with knowledge of transportation and planning, legislation, and codes, including thorough knowledge of the principles and practices and research methods related to local and regional planning and transportation funding and implementation issues

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience related to transportation and transit planning and major projects
  • Registration or eligible for registration as MCIP and RPP
  • Completed IAP2 Public Participation Training
  • Post-graduate degree in planning, transportation, or a related field
  • Valid Driver’s License is an asset
  • Experience in local governments and consulting industry is preferred
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple demands and projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with clients, coworkers, and the public 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in urban transportation planning principles and relationships with land use planning, and methods of data collection, mapping, and analysis
  • Experience in transportation and transit master plans, transportation demand management, universal accessibility design and principles, application of CPTED principles in transportation planning, stakeholder and public engagement, and strategy and policy planning
  • Demonstrated experience with planning, stakeholder and public engagement, project management and project delivery
