Regular Full Time Position

The District of Saanich is one of the four core municipalities within the Capital Regional District. The community is home to 114,000 citizens and is comprised of urban, suburban and rural areas, and 12 diverse neighborhoods. Saanich is known for its progressive initiatives in the areas of Environmental Protection, Climate Change, and Community Planning.

Saanich is seeking an experienced Senior Planner – Current Planning to join our Planning team. The successful candidate will be innovative and self-motivated, with a focus on customer service. Skill sets will include thorough knowledge of planning principles and legislation, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The individual will be team focused, working with a diverse group of professionals to implement our Official Community Plan. 

The successful candidate will undertake a wide variety of municipal planning work including: managing development applications; implementing principles of good urban design, Zoning Bylaw interpretation, community engagement, writing planning reports and correspondence focusing on land use and sustainability, managing project teams and adhering to timelines and budgets.

Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Planning; more than five years progressive experience in public planning; Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and a valid BC Class 5 Drivers Licence.  Consideration may be given to candidates who hold an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend work.
