This is a temporary full-time position for approximately twelve (12) months. This position may be extended or concluded due to unforeseen circumstances at the time of posting.

The City of Maple Ridge has an exciting opportunity for a Professional Planner in the Community Planning Section of the Planning Department. 

Reporting to the Manager of Community Planning the Community Planner will:

  • Analysis of policy planning issues, including the preparation of related reports and recommendations for review by a superior.
  • Assembly, research, analysis and interpretation of historical, economic, physical, legal, statistical and other data for departmental studies and projects.
  • Maintains liaison with a variety of contacts and attends related internal and external meeting and may supervise technical subordinates assigned to a specific project.
  • Participate In a number of policy projects, including the completion of various area planning processes, the preparation and completion of consultation programs, undertaking land use policy research, and preparing and presenting policy-related reports to senior staff and council for their consideration;
  • Participate in the coordination and liaison with Council appointed committees;
  • Participate in policy and regulation interpretation in support of processing development applications.

Qualifications:

  • University graduation in an appropriate discipline, plus a post graduate degree in Community or Regional Planning or other related areas, supplemented by some professional planning experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience in urban or regional planning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in PIBC and/or the Canadian Institute of Planners.

 

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.  (Note – not required a part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment)
