Pacific Land Resource Group Inc. has an exciting entry-level opportunity available for a budding planner interested in land use and development.


Pacific Land Resource Group Inc. is an established urban planning land development consulting firm, based in Metro Vancouver.  We specialize in strategic land use planning and environmental services.  Our expertise includes project management, comprehensive development programs, highest and best land use assessments, habitat assessments, stream setbacks, habitat design and government agency approvals. 

 

The Assistant Planner responsibilities will include the following: 

  • Conduct research and prepare planning reports e.g., site assessments, development feasibilities, highest & best land use analysis and development pro-formas;
  • Prepare, and assist with managing development applications through municipal development approval process;
  • Familiar with local legislation with ability to interpret municipal bylaws and policies;
  • Prepare graphic presentation material to support city council and public consultation processes. AutoCad skills are desired but not essential;
  • Prepare technical correspondence;
  • Co-ordinate projects with planners, engineers, surveyors, architects, landscape architects & project managers;
  • Co-ordinate public consultation processes;
  • Providing overall planning support;
  • Liaise with clients & government agencies;
  • Attend to telephone enquiries & company correspondence; and
  • Perform general research and office duties as required.

 

The ideal candidate has a diploma or degree in Urban Planning, or a related discipline (recent & upcoming graduates will be considered).  You will have knowledge of land development processes and community planning. Applicants who demonstrate a willingness to learn AutoCad and /or have technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite will be considered.

 

Position is ideally suited to an individual that enjoys a fast paced interdisciplinary, problem solving environment.  You are an enthusiastic proactive team member who has the ability to work independently.  A valid driver’s license is required.

 

The position is part-time with the opportunity to develop into a full time position.
