The District of Lake Country is seeking a full-time Manager of Planning for an approximate 18-month term to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Planning & Development, the Manager of Planning is responsible for overseeing current planning, as well as business licensing. The Manager provides leadership and guidance to an efficient Planning team and has responsibility for administration of the Zoning Bylaw and other relevant planning documents.  Other major areas of responsibility include the timely and effective delivery of service to both internal and external contacts; liaising with the business community, developers, the public, senior administration, and Council; effective management of the divisions’ financial budget; and determining when consultant resources are required for Planning projects. The normal work week is 40 hours, with a Monday to Friday schedule and does include evenings to attend council and other meetings.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a master’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Planning or a related field and must be eligible for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners. A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in Planning with a minimum of 2 of those years being in a leadership role is required, as well as knowledge of methods and techniques for Planning projects and community involvement. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in local government.
