The General Manager of Resort Experience reports to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and is accountable for the overall direction and management of the Resort Experience Division. As a member of the senior management team, this role assists increating and implementing strategic direction for the entire organization. The Resort Experience Division provides Council, residents, taxpayers, visitors and the Municipality with leadership and resources in the areas of Planning; Parks Planning; Facility Construction Management; Village Events and Animation; Cultural Planning and Development; Resort Operations (Trails, Landscape, Turf, Irrigation and Village Maintenance); and Environmental Stewardship and provides resources and support for large cross-departmental initiatives.

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Business, Public Administration, Economics or a related discipline, a graduate degree in one of these fields will be considered an asset and 10-15 years experience in a strategic leadership role with responsibility for a diverse set of related project portfolios. Experience working in the public sector and/or within tourism economy would be considered a strong asset. Qualified candidates may also have experience with economic planning, land/urban planning and/or community development with the strong ability to guide andcoordinate the efforts of municipal divisions in achieving financial and reporting goals. The General Manager role requires a collaborative, people oriented person who is visionary, thinks innovatively and can find compelling and creative solutions to complex problems.

The successfulcandidate has a passion for what Whistler has to offer its visitors and residents as well as the dedication to ensure that Whistler continues to be recognized on an international stage as a year round World Class resort destination.

As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid class 5 BC driver’s license and must provide a satisfactory drivers abstract and a satisfactory Police Information Check prior to beginning employment.
