The District of Saanich is one of the four core municipalities within the Capital Regional District. The community is home to 114,000 citizens and is comprised of urban, suburban and rural areas, and 12 diverse neighborhoods. Saanich is known for its progressive initiatives in the areas of Community Planning, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.


Due to advancement, Saanich is seeking an experienced Senior Planner – Community Planning to join our Planning team. The successful candidate will be innovative and self-motivated, with a focus on customer service. Skill sets will include thorough knowledge of planning principles and legislation, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The individual will be team focused, working with a diverse group of professionals to implement our Official Community Plan. 


The successful candidate will undertake a wide variety of municipal planning work including: managing complex planning studies from initiation to completion; designing and delivering community engagement processes; and conducting research and preparing and presenting reports on land use and sustainability issues.


Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Planning; more than five years progressive experience in public planning; eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and a valid BC Class 5 Drivers Licence.  Consideration may be given to candidates who hold an equivalent combination of education and experience.
