Our Community Planning team has a temporary full-time 12 month opportunity for a Planning Assistant 2 to join their team.  This is technical and administrative planning work to support the Community Planning team.  In this role you will work primarily with databases and statistics, and conduct the associated data analysis for a variety of areas related to the Official Community Plan, such as development/housing statistics, transportation, economy and climate change and effectively present the findings and information in reports/presentations.


The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of urban and graphic design principles, presentation methods, and techniques as applied to municipal planning work, along with data analysis experience related to the collection and modelling of the data; the ability to generate reports from statistical resources such as Statistics Canada, BC Stats, My Health My Community; is comfortable with engineering, legal survey and architectural plans; the ability to describe, illustrate, condense and recap data in an effective manner; a high level of competency with excel, and familiarity with other data visualization software.


The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, with the ability to perform various tasks under minimal supervision, and be a team player with innovative approaches to problem solving.


The successful candidate will also have post-secondary education in a relevant field such as planning, geography, land economics or urban design, sound experience in a planning, architecture, or landscape architecture environment, and use current best practices in software applications (such as In Design, Sketch Up, Photoshop and Autocad), or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid BC Drivers Licence is required.
