Manager, Central Waterfront Public Realm

Reporting to a member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead the development and implementation of strategic planning, programming and all operational requirements for the City’s Central Waterfront Area, including buildings, plazas, stages, outdoor ice rink, water features, wharfs, gateways and other public open spaces. The City’s Central Waterfront Area has seen significant redevelopment and is evolving into a local and regional destination.   This position will involve coordination with overall City priorities and departments and liaising and coordinating with external area stakeholders and the public.  Stakeholders will include various levels of government and diverse business and public interests.  You will have a dynamic entrepreneurial focus while understanding work within the public sector framework and will be responsible for staffing, budget management, contract management, asset management and long-term capital support.  You will liaise with contacts in all City departments and will establish and maintain strong ties to a myriad of external area stakeholders and the public.  You will oversee employees engaged in the maintenance and caretaking of the facilities, as well as an events and marketing position that will coordinate the activities of auxiliaries/contractors (e.g.  hosts, skate shop attendants etc.).

 

You will have a degree in public policy, planning, business, commerce or related discipline and 10 years related experience, including demonstrated experience creating unique public experiences and projects involving urban design, public space and the pedestrian realm.  You are passionate about place making and building on shared values.  Your strong written and verbal communication skills, together with your ability to lead and work collaboratively as part of a diverse and evolving team will ensure your success.  A valid Class 5 Driver’s license is required for this position.

We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. Due to the responsibilities of this position, it may be necessary from time to time to work outside of the regular hours of work.
