Official Community Plan Project Planner - One Year Term

Join our dynamic management team and project manage the technical planning work of the 2040 Official Community Plan. You will focus on strategic land use planning and policy development with an emphasis on urban center revitalization, urban design guidelines, placemaking and building complete communities. You have a proven track record of fostering strong working relationships with other departments and you are a skilled communicator, confident decisionmaker and collaborative problemsolver.


We seek a Canadian Institute of Planners recognized degree in Community or Regional Planning or a related area supplemented by a minimum of 7 years professional planning experience. Membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Planners is preferred. Familiarity with BC legislation and extensive knowledge of general planning principles/information.


The successful candidate will have expertise in urban sustainability across various topic areas, as well as demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex projects, use diplomacy to facilitate interdepartmental solutions and innovative approaches, and undertake research to identify best practices. Previous experience in the formulation of an OCP update or equivalent community planning document, and proficiency with SketchUp, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Adobe Indesign and/or other design tools is an asset.
