Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
September 23, 2016 - 9:00am - 4:00pm
Langara College
100 West 49th Ave

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is based on the principle that the proper design and effective use of buildings and public spaces in neighborhoods can lead to a reduction in the fear and incidence of crime, and an improvement in the quality of life for all. Students will be introduced to the history, concepts, key elements and the application of CPTED principles. The course will also include a group field work assignment with the expectation of a small group presentation, requiring the students to demonstrate learning on the identification of CPTED principles in practice, as well as recommendations for design changes or modifications where needed.

Course led by Colleen Kerr, MA (Criminal Justice) – City of Surrey, Crime Reduction Strategy Manager

This one-day course costs $125 and includes continental breakfast and lunch.  The course will be held at Langara College in Room B023.
