But how many are ready to reference it, and what do they need to implement it smoothly? Further, will industry be ready when they do? To help shed light on those questions, we’ll share findings from two recent studies, and reveal a training plan for working with industry and local governments. First, we’ll share findings from a survey that sought to determine the degree to which local governments feel ready to reference the standard. Then we’ll share an analysis of industry training and capacity. Finally, we’ll outline how the Energy Step Code Council is responding with a multi-stakeholder training strategy to help support industry as local governments begin adopting steps in bylaws. What you’ll learn:

  • What level of interest is there amongst local governments in referencing the steps in the standard, and in which regions?
  • Which industry sub-sectors are “good to go” with the Lower Steps and where is more training and support on high-performance buildings needed?
  • What is the short and long-term plan for addressing training and capacity gaps?
  • How are industry organizations, professional associations, government and other stakeholders working together to help support this market transformation?
