  • Webinar #2: Growth Pressures: Housing Needs in Communities Experiencing Industrial Growth

  • Webinar #3: Rental Renaissance: How to Support a Flourishing Rental Housing Sector in Your Community
    Thursday October 30, 2014 | 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

The lack of purpose-built, affordable rental housing is a growing concern in many communities. A recent study found there’s a shortage of such housing now, and the situation will worsen without concerted action soon. Hear how the City of New Westminster has responded to this challenge through its Secured Market Rental Housing Policy. As well, we’ll hear from a developer about the opportunities and obstacles when working to build new rental housing in B.C.

    Speakers:
Bev Grieve MCIP, RPP, Director of Development Services, City of New Westminster
Jon Stovell, President, Reliance Properties Ltd.

  • Webinar #4: When the Going is Tough: Ideas for Finding Neighbourhood Support for Affordable Market Housing and Densification
    Thursday November 27, 2014 | 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Communities that face growing populations and dwindling land supplies are turning to higher densities and multi-unit developments to make housing more affordable. But this is often met with resistance and even hostility from neighbours. How does a community respond? Hear how an innovative online tool called PlaceSpeak offers new options for building trust and transparency in the public consultation process, and how a developer works to balance the creation of more housing with respect for community concerns.

    Speakers:
Colleen Hardwick, Founder and CEO, PlaceSpeak
Gary Pooni MCIP, RPP, President, Brook Pooni Associates
