Neighbourhoods designed for walking have healthier, happier residents, less traffic collisions and transport costs. How we can build better communities?

Active transportation (walking and cycling) provide a variety of economic, social and environmental of benefits, including direct benefits to users and indirect "external" benefits to other people, including motorists. Conventional transportation planning tends to overlooks or undervalue many of these benefits, which can result in underinvestment in walking and cycling facilities. This presentation will describe a comprehensive framework for evaluating the full benefits of more active transport and ways to communicate those benefits.
