Access to Housing Seminar
September 20th 2018
12:00 PM - 4:30 PM PST

There is a housing accessibility and affordability crisis in British Columbia and local governments are increasingly at the forefront of tackling this issue. This September, the PIBC Vancouver Island-North Chapter is pleased to announce it will be hosting a seminar in Campbell River that will examine the topic of housing accessibility in a regional context. The half-day seminar will examine factors causing the decline in housing accessibility in our region and the types of pressures this lack of accessibility puts on existing services, vulnerable groups and communities as a whole. This event is designed to explore issues relating to access to housing for the most marginalized people in our communities, particularly in light of the historically low rental vacancy rates we’re currently experiencing in an attempt to gain a deeper insight into the work done by social agencies, the specific problems associated with the regional housing crisis, and what urban planners could be doing differently or doing more of.
