Michael Geller, B.Arch, MAIBC FCIP, RPP  is an architect, planner, real estate consultant and property developer with four decades of experience in the public, private and institutional sectors.

His company, The Geller Group, is active in real estate consulting and property development.  Current activities include land use planning, feasibility studies and development approvals for a variety of large and small projects around Metro Vancouver.  He also serves on the Adjunct Faculty of SFU’s Centre for Sustainable Community Development.

From January to September 2007, Mr. Geller completed an around-the-world journey while on Sabbatical from SFU, during which time he wrote a bi-weekly column in the Vancouver Sun.

From 1999 to 2006, he was President and CEO of the SFU Community Trust, overseeing the planning and development of UniverCity, a sustainable community adjacent to the Simon Fraser University Burnaby Mountain campus. 

Prior to joining SFU, Mr. Geller participated in the redevelopment of Steveston Village, Bayshore in Coal Harbour, Deering Island, as well as the planning for the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre Expansion, Furry Creek Resort Community and the Spetifore Lands. He also developed a variety of residential and mixed-use projects around Vancouver. 

From 1981 to 1983, he was Vice-President Development, The Narod Group.  Prior to joining Narod, he was an official with CMHC in Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto during which time he oversaw the planning and development of the Phase One redevelopment of the South Shore of False Creek. 

Mr. Geller serves on a number of public, private and charitable boards. He is a past president of the Urban Development Institute BC and Canada, a former Trustee of the Art Gallery of British Columbia, and past member of Vancouver’s Urban Design Panel, the Development Permit Board Advisory Panel and the British Columbia Buildings Corporation Board of Directors.

He has been honoured as a Life Member of the Architectural Institute of BC and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
