Eligibility
Provisional members who:
- have a minimum of 10 years of responsible professional planning experience; and
- three Full Members of CIP, at least one of whom is a member of PIBC, attest that the candidate has functioned as a responsible professional planner
Submission
- Completed Application Form for Full Membership
- Fee for Full Membership Application
- Portfolio Application Fee of $150
- A written submission explaining how 4 examples of the candidates planning work address the 3 areas covered by the written examination:
- awareness of interrelationships
- planning theory, and
- formulating plans and policies
This submission:
- should be 6 to 12 pages in length;
- may be supported by copies of the candidates planning work; and
- should identify the extent of the candidate's participation and responsibility for the referenced planning work.
Review of the Portfolio
- The candidate shall make an oral presentation to the Portfolio Review Committee and shall identify how the candidates work specifically addresses the 3 examination questions. This presentation is expected to be approximately 30 minutes in length.
- The Portfolio Review Committee shall be comprised of 2 Examiners and at least one member of the Membership Committee.
- Only material from acknowledged sources will be accepted.
- All candidates for Full Member status must pass an oral interview exploring ethics and professionalism. For candidates proceeding via the portfolio option, this interview shall occur at the portfolio oral presentation.
- Through the written submission and presentation the candidate must demonstrate practical and theoretical knowledge and the ability to conceptualize and think critically.
- In order to proceed to Full Member status, the candidate must receive a pass by the majority of Portfolio Review Committee.
