This unique program offers experienced professionals in all areas of planning who are seeking, or who are interested in seeking Full Membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) & the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) the opportunity to complete the written exam requirements for membership in a collaborative setting over one weekend. The written exam is one of the requirements for membership for all applicants without a Planning degree from a CIP recognized program.
The Program:
The program includes one mandatory pre-course assignment (due in advance of the course start date), professional preparatory instruction & guidance, a set of written assignments to be completed over the weekend, facilitated in a seminar room setting with refreshments. Participants will receive the assignments & readings approximately 5 weeks prior to the course date. The program will be instructed and facilitated by two professional, Full Members of the Institute.
A Note To Participants: The Membership Course is an intensive program, which requires extensive preparatory reading prior to the course dates, one pre-course assignment in advance of the course dates, and an intensive facilitated program of workshop-style sessions and essay writing during the three day weekend course
Registration Requirements:
The PIBC Membership Course is reserved for planning professionals with a minimum of four years experience, who are Provisional members of PIBC/CIP seeking to move to Full membership but who do not hold a CIP Recognized Planning Degree.
Application deadline: Space is limited, on a first-come-first serve basis for eligible applicants only. The final deadline for registration is: Wednesday Oct. 21st, 2009. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications early, to ensure adequate preparatory time prior to the course dates.

Please note: Members with a Planning degree from a CIP Recognized program are not required to write the written exam, and may not take this course.
