Take Home Exam Guidelines
 

1. The exam can be taken any time during the year.
   
   
2. Candidates are encouraged to consult with their sponsoring member during the preparation of their examination.  It is the responsibility of the sponsoring member to provide guidance throughout the examination process.  It is not the role of the sponsor to review a draft or final paper prior to submission.
   
   
3. Candidates will be assigned a completion date of one week from the date on which the examination materials are received by the candidate.
   
   
4. Candidates are limited to a maximum of 20 pages for the examination, typed and double-spaced.
   
   
5. Candidates must reference all quotations appropriately.  The use of references should be within reasonable limits.
   
   
6. Candidates must provide a bibliography, noting publications cited or reviewed.
   
   
7. Candidates must submit original, plus 3 copies.
   
   
8. Candidates must submit certification of own work with the examination.  Examinations will not be marked unless accompanied by this form.  The sponsoring member must also sign this form.
   
   
9. The examination will be evaluated as a pass/fail by three examiners.  At least two of the three examiners must give a pass grade.
   
   
10. Where cheating, plagiarism or other improprieties are suspected, the candidate will be contacted by the Membership Committee.  The Membership Committee will discuss the examination with the candidate.  Where the Membership Committee determines wrongful actions occurred, the examination will be considered void and the individual disqualified from the Institute's membership.
    
    
11. To assist in preparing for the examination, the suggested reading list should be reviewed or a video can be rented. CIP also offers an exam preparation manual for a minimal rental fee.For further information, contact the PIBC or CIP office.
    
    
12. To initiate the Take Home Exam, contact the PIBC Deputy Registrar.  Cost of the exam is $175 plus GST.
