Non Corporate Members

There are two classes of non-corporate membership:

An Honourary Member is an exceptional individual that PIBC Council has unanimously acknowledged as someone who has significantly assisted the planning profession.

An Associate Member is any individual who is not involved in planning, and not qualified for professional membership or any other category of membership, but is nevertheless generally interested in the Institute and planning, and wishes to receive some of the Institute's services. This includes students enrolled in any university programs which are not formally recognized panning programs.

Non-corporate membership does not include equivalent joint membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). Individuals interested in non-corporate membership with CIP should contact the national association directly.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  As part of the Planning for the Future project PIBC, in cooperation with CIP and our affiliated professional planning associations across Canada, is in the midst of a major review and renewal of our Membership criteria, requirements and processes.

Substantial changes to the requirements for professional Membership and the process taken by membership applicants will result from this project. Currently the changes are expected to take effect as of the end of 2011. Anyone considering Membership should be aware of these coming changes. For more information on this project click here.
